Any thoughts on using the new MicrobacterClean while also dosing NO3:PO4x? 20 gallon Nuvo, trying to get phosphate and nitrate stable, 1 year old tank, winning a slow fight against the cyano and green algae. Weekly 5 gallon water changes done auto via DoS, 0.8 gallons per day done simultaneously. No skimmer, feeding 1/2 cube frozen (rinsed with RO) daily, occasional reef chili for the few softies in the tank. I know the water changes are what’s best long term, just curious if the one additive would have a negative effect on the other.

You want to dose carbon (NoPOX) and then use this to remove it?

Brightwell Aquatics MicrōBacter CLEAN is a selective complex of extremely effective microbes and enzymes that not only reduce the concentrations of organic nitrogen, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, and organic carbon in all marine ecosystems, but make maintenance easy by actually loosening accumulations and coatings.

No3po4x is carbon dosing which will boost the population in the tank. Microbacter is beneficial bacteria. Add both together and you’ll have a lot more microbacter floating around in a few hours. I sometimes do this just to ensure the beneficial bacteria that I want running the tank will have an edge over other bacteria. I use seachem stability for this and it works. I see no reason why it wouldn’t work for you too. Just make sure your system has phosphate in it.

you carbon-dose in tandem with Stability? Both into tank at the same time?
What do you observe as the effects when you say "works"?

I’ll typically do this if I want to see a bloom and a nitrate reduction through increased skimmer production. If I dose vodka or vinegar as normal, I’ll usually notice a bloom the next day. If I add a beneficial bacteria while carbon dosing (same time or right after adding carbon source is ok), I’ll see a bloom within a few hours. Like I said, it’s mainly a reassurance that a certain bacteria is thriving, which means other less-favorable bacteria aren’t doing as well. I think this also aids in promoting better denitrification after I carbon dose in order to get to a certain nutrient level. I used to “tinker” a lot with nutrient levels and would throw that number off though. Test, carbon dose, test, add nitrates, carbon dose, test.... Not so much anymore thankfully.

Fascinating! Which bacteria products did you see this with?
