So i have a 40 gallon nuvo. Long story short my red sea test kit says I have High nitrates. So i dosed lightly and i got algae to grow and my corals arent looking to hot. I also stopped dosing reef energy. Everything was looking beautiful but my high nitrates. Any idea whats up?

Personally, I watch the corals and not the test.

Water changes imo would be simpler if you want to lower the number.

I don't think there are any Good Guy algae (like good old green hair algae!) that grow when you dose carbon. Normal algae don't make your corals sick either.

How's your CUC? Pod population appear normal and active? Do you use activated carbon?
