I realize this isn't exactly associated with reefing but any of us who use LEDs owe these guys some thanks.

Three Japanese scientists were just awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for their discovery/invention of blue LEDs(and therefore white along with it) from several decades ago(late 1980's I think). Apparently the chemistry involved with them is very different from red and green diods and was only successfully discovered by accident after almost all research was given up on them. So thank you Shuji Nakamura, Isamu Akasaki and Hiroshi Amano for your great work.

Randy, when can we expect your Nobel prize to be announced?

I do remember the early 80''s when Radio Shack only carried red, green, and yellow. Always wondered why there was no blue or white.
