Hello my friends Just wondering why the wall hammer coral skeleton has those nodules on the ridges? Can anyone enlighten me?

TIA

Skeleton that is shaped like messenterial filaments. Before the hammer died it was next to a gsp colony. For almost a year the gsp stayed retracted whenever the hammer touched it. But the tables turned. I looked one day and the flesh of the hammer that was touching gsp colony was detached and the hammer skeleton became exposed.

If thats the case i have no idea! Some kind ossification disease???? Maybe a random mutation?

If anything its pretty cool... a bummer the coral died
