Noisy return pump

I dont remember the brand of the pump but its your basic submersible return. Its making all kinds of noisy lately(in the past 2 weeks) I've taken it apart now to check it out and there appears to be no obstructions of any sort. It uses a magnet inside of it and an impeller intake. Any ideas? Maybe i should just get a new one...but i'd rather not

Is something inside the pump rattling or is the pump itself vibrating and being irritating?

Is the impeller shaft bent? that could cause the magnet to rub against the housing. Maybe it's just vibrating and tapping on the glass? You could try to put a foam pad under it and see if the noise stops...

Is the pump old? With time the impeller can wear down and rattle. If it is an old Mag pump, try replacing the impeller. Good to have a spare on hand, anyway.

I've got some tubing underneath the pump to keep it from rattling on the glass. I believe its something in the pump, but i'm unsure of what it is. Nothing looked bent to me when i opened it up. I can't remember the brand, but i bought brand new when i set up my tank 6 months ago. I'll go by the local shop and find out the brand this weekend. I may take it in with me and see if anyone there has any ideas. They're very helpful.

Clean it in vinegar first. CaCO3 builds up in the warm areas of the pump which can cause binding and rattling. The plastic bushings can wear as well and that can't be fixed unless you put a little teflon tape in there to "tighten" up the bushing. Are you sure it doesn't have air trapped in it? That can also cause rattling.

I've cleaned it a couple times but not with vinegar. I supplement tropic marin so i guess i could have Calcium buildup...I'm not sure about the air, I don't think i do. How can i tell?
