I have a Reef Octopus NWB 110 with the newer pump in it. The air intake line has the original muffler on it. The muffler makes a gargling sound I thought it might be cause the line had water in it but I have check that and found now water. I had the bubble blaster pump on it for a while and it was even louder. Has trouble with it making noise or any skimmer air intake? What did you do to fix it or quiet it down a little?

Best solution is to cap one of the fittings on the muffler and put a extension hose on the other fitting. Now run that hose somewhere you can not hear it, some people run them outside for fresh air intake.

Either what glassmanbo said, or take it off and make your own filter. I upgraded a pump on one of my older skimmer and the air noise was maddening. I ended up taking a 2' piece of PVC at 2" and capped both ends. Drilled pushed air line in. Quieted it right down.
