Hey peeps, i am trying to see what is the best set up for me. I would like to keep different type of wrasses, and most of them (from what i read) do not deal well with high levels of copper.

I am looking for substitutes for Copper, i am wondering if you guys have experience with Ich-X?
is there any type of medication that i can use to replace copper but still be safe for wrasses?

Here is my plan:
Use Safety Stop before putting new fish in the QT
Then following HotRock's set up, minus the copper. So i am wondering if there is anything else i can use for velvet/ich control.
i would like to also keep the fish long term in the QT tank at least 30 days or so, to make sure everything is healthy before dropping them off to the display tank.

TTM is a tank transfer method. You will need to read up on this in the Disease forum. I do not personally use it. I also do not use copper. Never have.
Now, wrasses need special care in qt due to their responses to what I do use. Chloroquine diphosphate and at times formalin. I have successfully gotten wrasses through formalin without issue. I have not tried them with CP except for the hogfish I currently have and is doing great on Day 4.
I also use a metronidazole and prazi. method for internal parasites.
Check out the stickies under Disease by Humblefish. Very good reads.

Wrasses do not do well at all in CP. We don't know why, but they usually don't make it through.

They use it a fish store I know and the wrasses are in it for weeks with no problem

Here's a list of different kinds of fish and what treatment copper (both chelated and ionic), TTM, and CP that is recommended or not recommended:

that is a great chart!
@melypr1985 i am wondering if anyone has any luck with QT possum wrasses? what is safe to use with them?
i think the store keeps their copper fairly low, just enough to keep sickness down, but not enough to kill the sickness or the fish... i guess.

TTM is very interesting method to combat ich, just read the info on it. Thanks for the link!
But if you are using any other meds, i guess you have to wait until you are done with the TTM.
