Non-fancy LED Lights?

What really stinks is the 16" timer box is $200 and the 32" timer box is $300... So it would cost me another $100 to do smaller boxes unless I get the basic ones. Then I'd have to run 2 outlet timers.. What a drag.

You can get 2 maxaspect etheral lights for 850 and have great shimmer color and would look awesome on a topless tank plus lights are controlled by phone
Look at coral vue website

I may bite the bullet and do a big upgrade on my lights to LED as many seem to suggest..

however, I do not need the fancy smanchy bluetooth phone options. I do not need to go crazy with color adjustments, nor the other fancy gizmos things. I just want one that you can plug into a timer and be done with it.

can't hang the lights, so something on brackets is preferred.
of course, the more par output, the better. I want clams and nems.

Suggestions please? (not looking to spend more than $500 if possible)
48" tank (75 gals)

EDIT: my LFS has Satellite + Pro for sale.. was looking at the Orbit Marine to supplement with the T5's
Look at sblights and reefbreeders has sale this weekend

If I were going to spend $800 on lights I would go with kessils but the lady would never approve [emoji23]

All I can say is do not get Fluval. I've had nothing but issues with mine. I've had to have them replaced once already under a year now new ones are acting up the same way the first ones did. Stay away. Far away from Fluval. I can say they do grow coral and clams. All my stuff is alive and bright. But i hate the light.

I have he orbit pro on my 120. 4x2x2. The light doesn't penetrate the bottom third if the tank to grow much of anything.

Look at ledzeal lights. Same ballpark pricing and I think will be better. My requirement is the light needs to be on brackets as i have no canopy and I couldnt find anything I likes reasonably priced either

Good luck

I had fluval too, and hated it as well. it's a nice light, but I hated that there's only one plug for day and night, I couldn't use a timer for the one I got. Dimming was manual as well.

thanks Sharpimage! I will take a look at that as well :)

I pulled the lenses. Well some of them. On a 48 spread the lights out with a bigger gap in the middle than on the sides. The lenses are 40 60 and 90 degree By pulling the lenses it's 160 degree that's wide. At 14 in my light at 80% is about 40,000 lux at the top of the tank. So prob around 500+ par that's no lens. Or deleted ones removed actually. Note the ones I kept. I wanted those to penetratit a little stronger plus act as a stunner.

I did the same on my 55 but the led were ai sol.

Thanks for info, did you pull some lights completely out and that helped? I'm a little ignorant with this stuff, and don't want to damage the box, thanks!

That's what I was planning on but hoping to use the 32" timer fixture on a 48" tank and not sure how well that will go..

I have a dual 72" orbit marine pro on my tank and hate them. Like was said earlier, they don't penetrate well at all. Waste of 1200.00 by me when I first started.

There the 48" nemolight. Which is a newer and affordable led

I was wanting to upgrade my JBJ 28 Nano Pro. Steve's LED's seemed good but he discontinued for that tank due to low demand :(

How did you pull the lenses? I raised the lights about 14" above, much better, but afraid to open up box and damage it. Thanks!
