I've started working on my RS 525XL since purchasing it in December 2019. I've had several personal and professional obstacles come up that took priority but things have returned to normal.

I'm using the supplied sump and cabinet but I have a good friend who is a custom cabinet maker and offered to help with creating some supplemental cabinets. Unfortunately, the location of the tank does not allow me to store the RODI & SW storage tanks in my garage and most homes in Arizona do not have basements. One of the cabinets will house my RODI and FW/SW tanks. Basically my plan is to contain some of the equipment within added cabinets and lessen the clutter in the RS cabinet/sump area.

Are they any problems with locating equipment such as Reactors, UV sterilizers, refugium, ect. outside of the main cabinet or sump? The reason I ask is that with the additional cabinets I will have a massive amount of room to the point I planned on utilizing one cabinet for multiple QT's. I understand I will need additional pumps to move the water to the remoted equipment but are there any potential issues with this type of setup other than potential leaks.

My 600 gal has no sump (I have a raised floor so I can access the top of the tank). My pump is outside of the fish room.

My skimmer sits on one side, I just added a small tank (fuge, mostly for micro fauna). Imo there are no set rules as to where you keep your equipment... As long as it functions properly.

My 750 XXL has the dosing pump and ATO in a separate cabinet. I have also known people in our area to put chillers and pumps in the garage to eliminate noise and heat in the house.

Thank you for the info and photo's. I kind of figured it could be done but I was wondering what obstacles folks have encountered. There are some incredible Tank/Filtration setups, especially how folks have crammed so much equipment in small cabinets. I'm trying to avoid this and since my buddy is helping greatly I figured why not spread things out and make things easy to operate and maintain.

I was considering a remote refugium but didn't know if there would be any negative effects of the water being pumped to a remote tank then back to the sump.

I'm definitely doing the same with my ATO and UV sterilizer. I would like to utilize my garage but unfortunately, the original architect/builder wasn't thinking about a Reef Tank. Ironically my neighbor's house has two perfect walls adjacent against his garage but has no interest in Reek tanks.

If anyone would post photo's of their systems with remoted equipment I know I would greatly appreciate it and I'm sure others would find it helpful.
