Non-tropic-marin glass hydrometer

I'm having trouble finding the tropic marin glass hydrometer in stock anywhere. What do you think about a more generically branded lab glass hydrometer like these? I think I would want the GW2560 (reads SG from 1.0000 to 1.0700 in 0.0005 increments) or the GW2560X (reads SG from 1.000 to 1.070 in 0.001 increments). The only problem is if they're too long for my tank (12 gal aquapod). I hope the stated length is the total length not the length of the glass tube.

I think it will work. They work by floating so it should not reach the bottom. I believe its 13" long, total

Most people get a thin plastic cylinder and scoop out sone tank water and read it in that then pour back in tank

Yes, I need to be careful to measure the temperature and re-calibrate. I wonder what temperature they are calibrated to.

I believe the hydrometer just measures generic specific gravity. It doesn't really care what is changing the specific gravity (e.g. salt, sugar, etc.). If I get the ones I mentioned, it'll measure in the range I need to check for ocean salinity.

I think the GW2560 is the best bet. You will need temperature corrections, but it should work.

FYI, the shipping for the hydrometers on the lab website was real steep (~$20), but an identical hydrometer is available on amazon for the same price.

Alot of reviews on that saying arrived broken.not sure on what date they are or if changed way packaged/ delivered but something to take into account

I saw that. There's probably some selection bias there (people who got broken hydrometers are more likely to review the item), and I can get a refund if it's broken. Based on the reviews, it's a 5 star hydrometer if it arrives unbroken.

Yeah seems more people to gove a bad review if not happy rather than good review for sure.
I know I never personally left a review and actually annoys me when hospital asks me score my service I received ,but that's more to do with takes 5-10 minutes between them sending me questions in tx messages ( but totally nothing to do with a hydrometer ha ha )
Just out the roughly 10 reviews i read,seemed like most was arrived broken is all

Hold up if you have the time and patience; I would just order the eBay Tropic Marin hydrometer that comes WITH a graduated cylinder. The thing about getting one from the random lab websites is that you don’t have the green bar that saves you from eye squinting + I was looking for hours and some of the hydro meters aren’t even for salinity¡

I already bought the hydrometer I linked. I haven't tested it yet, but I like what I got (it wasn't broken). I have good eyesight so I shouldn't have any problem reading it.

Perfect. I have a digital refractometer; please let me know if it ends up working well for you since I’d like to purchase a hydrometer for calibration/precision purposes and I don’t have the patience for 1 month shipping from Germany.
