Noob Ecotech Question

Here is a noob question about Ecotech. Looking at upgrading my tank from an AIO 40g to Waterbox 130.4. Considering adding Radions, MP40s, MP10s to the new system. Already purchased an APEX which I will use to control the new system - so here is my question do I need the Ecotech reef link? Not exactly sure how everything interfaces and the purpose to be honest. Thanks.

What does mobius mean? Sorry im still new to controllers. I have a ecotech pump and propellor and planning on trading my kessil a360 w for a Radion (tell me if that sounds like a bad idea). I thought to get a reef link but would getting a Apex be a better investment in the long run?
