Noob help, return line.

It may work better . Some barb connectors have a small inner diameter than pvc. Small inner diameter means flow restrictions. Hope that makes sense.

I’m trying to plumb my return line. I have 3/4 schedule 80, and I’m going to run it down to a 45 then over the return pump. Trying to figure out what I need to do at the end of the PVC to connect to vinyl tube straight down and connect to my Sicce syncra 6.0. I know, I have never done anything like this before, but I was suggested to use a reducing coupler with a 1” barb and a 1” adapter spigot. Not sure if I should be doing that with 1” tubing when it’s going up through a 3/4 pipe. TIA

The reason for the 1" is the inner diameter of a 3/4" adapter and 3/4" barbed fitting is smaller than the inner diameter of the PVC pipe. Going 1" allows the inner diameter to stay 3/4", thus won't reduce or cause reduction in flow. It's minor, but sometimes every little bit helps in flow.

@Niteowl, you beat me to the answer! Lol

Same holds true in using true unions to connect pvc.
