Hello All

Im new to the hobby. I just got a 175Gal tank and plan to run a 50Gal sump. Im working on cleaning up this new tank and prepping my shopping list however im having a hard time finding a HOB overflow (I really have no clue if the back of this tank is tempered the front is fully seamless. ) My rim is around 1" however the lip the glass top sets on is also 1" and thick. Im thinking that i will just notch it where i put the overflow. I have read some mixed reviews on other posts in the forum but none of the tanks seemed to be this size so im being extra cautious.
Please excuse the cleanliness of the tank as i said i just got it and have yet to clean it.

Are you sure the rim is that wide? 2” sounds like a lot, if needed carefully removing a small strip off of the inside rim with something like a dremel tool shouldn’t effect the structural integrity of your tank..

my eshopps pf300 hanging bracket is approximately 1 3/4” wide so only need to trim like a 1/4”

Awesome thanks for your reply. when doing research i was noticing that all of the HOB all seemed to be 1 3/4” max. But yeah it is defiantly 2" and the lip is super thick too.

I would think a dremel and cut off wheel would make short work of that, If you have never worked with one before I suggest practicing first, they can be a little tricky when trying to make a straight cut and have a tendency to “run away” from you potentially messing up your work.
