Hi everyone! I'm a complete noob when it comes to aquariums. I started a 10gallon freshwater a couple of months ago and that's all the experience I have. I definitely want to start up a reef tank.

This is what I have so far:
-55 gallon tank
-AquaClear 70 Power Filter
-Marineland 300w heater
-4-stage RO/DI system
-refractometer

I will soon be buying the following items:
-Hydor Korolia Evolution 600 (is one enough? should I get two? or should I get a larger one?)
-30 lbs of Special Grade Arag-Alive! Live Reef Sand
-Instant Ocean Reef Crystals Salt Mix
-55 lbs of Reef Saver Rocks

Once the tank is cycled, I will be getting an HOB protein skimmer and put fish in. After a couple months, I'll put in coral and lights.

Am I missing anything? Am I getting the right equipment? I will not be be doing a sump tank.

I started my tank with 2/3 dry rock and 1/3 lr to seed the tank it worked well for me but I recommend getting another tank to qt your fish so you can keep your dt free of nasties because you can't treat fish with coral live rock or inverts in the tank. Be careful with the ac70 because it will become a nutrient sink I have one on my freshwater tank but I don't use hob filters on my saltwater the live rock does the bio filtering.
