I started my saltwater experience about 2 yrs ago, started with a 29 gal (too narrow) & moved up to a 40b. Within the last 3-4 months I been adding coral to my tank. And now I need advice and ID help

Here is a BTA I bought last week, but a week later the left side bubble tips are disappearing, can someone tell me why. Is it lighting or too much flow?

And can some one tell me what this is

The third picture looks like some sort of leather coral, probably a sinulara, and is your anemone opening up like in the first picture consistently? Bubble tips lose their bubbles sometimes and have long tentacles... And its recommended the aquarium be 6+ months of running before adding an anemone.. What are your parameters?

It open daily, but it doesn't look the same

Are you running a lot of gfo and is your salinity stable? Both look unhappy. It could be salinity, flow or phosphate levels. How do the other coral and fish look?
Are you running led lights and how intensely are they running? Half that nem looks bleached.

All fish & corals look happy. I don't run any gfo , just 5gal weekly to 10 gal bi-weekly water changes. I was reading they like alot of light & I kept my whites at 40-50% , so could that be the issue???? I really like how it looks & don't want it to die. Pleez Help

What kind of light is it and how close is it to the surface? You could br blasting it. Cut your whites down to 25% for a couple of weeks and see what happens, your other coral will be ok then try to ramp up 5% per week or so see if it helps.

It isn't just the amount of blue and white light but the intensity of that light. Anemones need a lot of light. Knowing the specific kind of light will help determine if you have enough.

Looks like two bubble tips and a Kenya tree that isn't out for the day yet to me. Like others said, give those anemones some light. Mine were bleached to but it can bounce back. Took mine a year to get back to normal color

Unfortunately that won't provide enough light to keep an anemone alive. Some soft coral may work but anemones require very intense light of the correct wavelength.

I spotted this hitchhiker today, can anyone tell me if it could be munching on bubble tip?

over the next two weeks slowly turn it up to full power.

looks like an emerald or gorilla crab, gorilla crabs can irritate corals and go for fish as they get bigger while I've never had problem with emeralds crabs, they are pretty beneficial.

Ya to bad my chocolate starfish ate it[emoji22]
