Noob question about trace elements

I’ll put a spin on this conversation in saying I only test for alk on a regular basis. My tank does just fine with water changes and fuel. I don’t chase all the numbers and as long as my corals look good and are growing I don’t trip. My thoughts are get as much advise as you can and find what works for you.
That's why I'm here. I'll admit I'm mostly a lurker. I find most of what I need using the search function, but I thought this was worth talking about.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.
Almost any ICP test will do( Triton, ATI and there are several others), I like ATI because it seems like it test the most params...just beware, the adjustment dosages they recommend are generally geared towards their brand of supplement. Supplement strengths probably vary. So don't start dosing just anything based on recommendations. If you use a triton test, use their supplements, if you use an ATI use theirs...etc

DSB = Deep Sand Bed

I had a 2'x2' section of my sump/refugium that was just an 8" deep bed of fine sand with a slow flow of water thru it. An anorexic bacteria will develop in the deep sand that uses nitrate as food and gives of nitrogen gas. That and a 4'x2' refugium and a 4'x2' return section full of extra live rock is how I kept my nitrate and phosphate levels in check and had a crazy population of copepods.

That’s food.

They are fatty acids that can be added to food. Providing amino acids to your corals helps build their skeletal structure. Amino acids can easily deplete in reef aquarium systems through protein skimmers and ultra low nutrient systems, so we Replenish amino acids for colorful and healthy corals. Amino Acids are required by corals to help aid in the process of breaking down food, helping produce necessary energy.

So it’s digested by corals bacterias and other organisms to aid in growth and overall health. Sounds like food and hair splitting.
We eat our foods to intake minerals proteins carbohydrates and amino acids. Hard to have one without the other

Yes in clearer terms.
Im just reading my bottle of Fuel. It identifies product as a carbohydrate Amino Acid Supplement which supports your statement.
