Cyano it's not good in home tank but helps in the wild. If you have corals it will smother them and kill them. If no corals it aids in adding O2 from what I've read.

The best way to combat cyano is good flow. How much do you have now? Where is it directed? Looks like you need more towards the sandbed.

There are chemical methods as well, but if you don't address the root cause it will only come back.

It's covering most of the sand. The tank has only been cycled about a month

While some people have had success with increased flow most do not. There is a bigger problem causing your cyano. Could be excess nutrients in the water from to much feeding, too high of a bioload, or your water source. Make sure you are using ro/di water with a tds reading of 0. I have used chemiclean with success while increased flow did nothing for me. If you use chemiclean make sure you follow the directions exactly, especially aerating the tank. That stuff can drop your oxygen levels down too low for fish and other critters.

+1 on the flow. along with nutrient export. If you have high nutrients the flow will not eliminate it. But it is much harder for it to take hold with a good flow. Also +1 on the chemicals being a poor way to deal with it. I use to use red slime remover which works quite well. But it will come back unless you deal with the nutrients and flow. that's my opinion

What is your tds reading of the ro water? Even a tds reading of 001 is bad. Also I would test the nutrient levels from the sea water before next use. I'm guessing one of these 2 things is your source.
Sea water and ro water

In my experience a tds reading of less than .001 is near impossable. My lfs ranges from .009-.017. Up to ..020 on my meter is green. Or ok. That's just my experience not knowledge.

only in ro. Saltwater will read off the charts because of the salt
