New member here from Iowa. Decided. To get my old 55 out and try my hand at the saltwater. Had this same tank setup but with freshwater back about 8 years ago. Looking for any advice on equipment and everything else about reef keeping. Currently in the process of building a stand then it will be off to the races. Planning on running a 29g sump tank and adding a 10g quarentine tank once everything is established. Ive been doing a little research, would love if i could get some links to some good articles over the whole water quality care and all around maintenance. Once i get something to look at ill post some pictures.

Always good to see a fellow Iowan in the reefing community. Sounds like you're planning a nice set up. Depending on what size fish you intend on getting, a 10g QT may not be large enough but if space is an issue, as it is for me, any QT is better than no QT. Finally, welcome and best of luck

Welcome to r2r. You picked the right forum. So great start. ;-) my suggestion is to get a great skimmer. Also if possable make a place to grow macros In the sump. At least chaeto. Great for nutrient removal and for a good pod population. For me, those are the essentials. Good luck

So whats everyones take on AI Sol Blue? Have seen mixed reviews on them. From what ive read there have been alot of people saying they dont work well for coral, but then i see people who say once they figured out they needed to turn the percentages down they work great.
