This has probably been answered somewhere else like 1000 times, but what else is the newbie thread for.
Do you guys leave your refugium lights on 24/7 or on a timer(and why); if on a timer what's your schedule like.

12 on/12 off is good. Some people just run them opposite of their tank lights to maintain a fairly constant pH. I think it is important that you provide some "rest" time, where the fuge light is off while the tank light is on.

Usually, reefers go opposite light schedule as the display tank lights for 2 main reasons.

1. Your PH dips when display lights are off due to lack of photosynthetic activity from corals. Your chaeto fuge light comes on and counter balances that activity in the fuge to prevent swings in ph.
2. Saves money and wear (even in led) to not run 24/7.

I have no light on my sump. No cheetos. I do have a overflow box that has other macro in it. Lighting schedule is the same as the tank.
