Hey everyone. New to this whole thing and I’m already addicted. So I’ve set up dry rock and although I think it looks great I am debating with my wife as I am concerned it’s taking up too much space. The tank’s display area is 37.4 gal whereas the overall tank is 50.3 gal (Its and AOI). I used approx 60lbs of rock. I thinks it’s layer out nicely, has two big caves, plenty of different levels for coral and has a level just 5” below surface where I may be able to grow some SPS (PAR is in the 220’s). I can get a scraper down all sides and with the exception of the back I can get my hand in as well. Please take a look. I’m cycling already but if I have to stop and regroup I want to do it before adding any livestock. Thanks!!

Looks real good only problem I can see is you won’t be able to grow many Coral on top of the rocks as they will be out the water in no time
Looks good tho

I was wondering about that. So 5-6” isn’t enough huh?

I try to keep mine within the bottom 1/2 or maybe a little taller. Some sps grow pretty tall pretty quickly

If you look t aCamden tank above there is good amount of space for growth i wouldn’t have the rock more than first 3rd to half way maybe the old little peak higher but in the main 3rd to half way it does make the tank look bare when new but it will become worth it when that space is taken up with lovely corals and space for middle fish to swim around

Unless you are running a deep sand bed you might want to remove a bunch of that sand.

If you understand the care and maintenance then disregard :)

Better pic, for anyone near Fort Worth!
Let me know when you’re heading home, I’ll bag some for you! I’ve never dragged them, I just let them attach to substrate then stick in rock lol

Looks deep but it’s actually only about 1”-1 1/2”.
