Noobies 220gallon Build

I am going to follow this one. Great setup

I decided not to use my MP40s & exchanged them for the Maxspect Gyre XF-250s.. These should be going in tomorrow..

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm about to make some changes though. Apparently I didn't make my stand tall enough to be able to work on things easily so I have decided to knock a hole through into the next room which happens to be my den & I'm going to put in a larger refugium & use the one I have now as a QT.. I'm hoping to start this tomorrow & of course pictures will follow.. It will also make it easier to add all the other things needed.. I'm absolutely loving all this learning..

Ha that is a change in direction, now I am really following

This is getting very interesting...can't wait to see the finished product.

Do you have a build thread for your tank ? I'd love to see it ..

I do not sure how to link it in here. 720 gallon aquarium in Miami. It's in process and I'm hoping to have water next week in both the 720 and the 220 :-)

Let me know how the 250s work once you get them going interested to see what people think of them over the older version.

Things are at a bit of a standstill at the moment.. After checking out various refugiums I decided to order the 55g kit from TayorPilot (Exotic Marine Systems) & put one together myself.. Everyone speaks so highly of his kits that I just had to get one.. While I'm awaiting delivery I'll trim out the hole I knocked in the wall for the pipework & also get a stand built for the fuge & QT to sit on . Pictures should be posted tomorrow..

Take your time and do it right:).

I'm trying to pace myself with this but it's hard to do when I'm having so much fun putting it all together..
Agree, maintenance can be boring, the building part is the most exciting.

Awesome build!

Thanks 'revhtree'.. It's a waiting game now.. I'll pick up a 55 gallon tank tomorrow. The sump/refugium kit will be here Thursday & all the other bits & pieces & new toys from BRS will also be here Thursday.. The grow lights should be here from Amazon tomorrow.. I should have it all put together by weekend then I believe it will take a week for the silicone to cure before I use it.. I guess that's when the fun begins.. Just realized I didn't post the pics from knocking the hole through & getting things ready.. That will have to be tomorrow, I've been out on the boat all day & i'm too tired now....

Yea my plans not going to work so I'm a knock a hole in the wall.

Awesome man keep it up like ur style and don't let that girl get away from u. Mines the same way she just bought us tickets for an expo in Virginia on October 8th and tested our water tonight. It makes this so much fun when the love of ur life is envolved.

Couldn't agree with you more.. Her getting involved has been a total game changer. I really didn't think she would love it as much as she does...

Getting a little closer every day.. This is the hole I knocked through into my den.. The last picture is a box I made to hold the pipes straight through the wall.. I'll level it then fasten it in with some expanding foam..
Also , we just got lucky at Petco. Went to get the 55g for the refugium & the dollar a gallon sale started yesterday so I saved $75..

Frame that up with some molding and you are good. Nice job on the pipe in between wall holder

So with a few days hold up to work on another project & then the hurricane just coming through I got a little behind with this.. I'm all back on track now.. The new sump/refugium is built & up & running.. The kit from @TaylorPilot was perfect in every way .. The quality was excellent.. It all went together really well..Once I finished building the stand it was just a case of doing the plumbing and we were off & running

Now I have more room I decided to put a small holding tank under my DT for my Tunze ATO unit. That gets automatically filled from my RO/DI unit in the garage so it's all automated now..

Hopefully all this will be finished tomorrow.. I feel it's time to choose a skimmer, any recommendations ??
