Hey there, I will be setting up a 5 feet peninsula style mixed reef tank but will be on the sps dominated side. So, I was wondering if I should get 3 AI Hydra 32 Hd which would be around 1200 USD or should I get 3 NooPschye K7 Pro V3 which would be around 700 usd. I will save about 500 usd if I get Noops. Please let me know, thank you! I want good colouration of corals, good growth, good coverage and some shimmer but no disco effect. Also I don’t mind it there isn’t an app for it as it is basically just set it and forget it. Please let me know which one will be better for the corals and also visually. Thank you in advance!

No need to cross-post...
Sorry I am a beginner. Didn’t really know where to post. But if you could give your opinion on which of the two lights I should use, it would really help out. Thanks

I would do the noopsyche and 2 quanta led bars and would still be less than the hydras.
How many of the Noops would you do? And are there any other alternatives to the quanta led bars? Also is it true that the Noops make the water look a little cloudy and that it makes the green corals look a little blurry? Also is it true that it has a disco ball effect?

With sps as a main goal 4 would be plenty with led bars if not 5.

no issues with green either don’t know where that has been thrown around either. Most of the things are due to peoples own water issues not lights no matter what brand or type. You get shimmer with the noopsyche but wouldn’t call it Kessil shimmer or disco all effect but definitely some.

Hey sorry to bother you one last time, but the shimmer like if I turn the greens and reds up will I be able to see individual dots of red and green light or like it is just white shimmer like kessil?

Probably similar performance with both of them but I'm going to assume the AI controller is better. If that's not important to you there is money to be saved by going with the Noops.

I value a good controller.

I have never noticed any disco ball effect with my Noopsyche lights nor have I ever noticed any cloudiness because of the lights (is that even possible?).
I keep 6 of them over my 6’ 125g tank. I could get away with using less lights but my tank has two black braces on it and I like having that many to reduce any shadowing from the braces.
