Hi all,

I am setting up a 30 gallon (36Lx12Wx16H) reef for zoas, ricordeas, a few other small softies, and maybe a few easier to keep LPS. I really like the Kessil shimmer but the NooPsyche are an intriguing alternative in terms of bang for your buck. It seems like a pair of the K7 minis would do everything I would want on this tank, probably with power to spare.

The main thing I read about the NooPsyche is they are clunky to set up. Not a big deal, I am sure I can get everything working with some research online, but, how set it and forget it are these lights?

If there is a power outage, or I have to unplug them, do they retain their settings?
Are there other issues that can cause them to forget their settings and require reprograming?

Thanks,
-pg

I have the k7 v3 pro, and it definitely saves settings even after long power cycles. I’m assuming the mini would work the same way

I'm not familiar with the mini but run 6 K7 V3 pros and have no issues with them keeping the settings when power is interrupted.

While I am getting intensity, duration, and spectrum figured out for my tank, I probably won't want to mess with lots of setting for sun rise/set effects in a clunky program, I would just want to have a setting the lights run at, and have them plugged into a timer.

Is there a general "on" setting, where spectrum and intensity can be adjusted on the fly, and an analogue timer can be the duration control?

Thanks,

I have two of the k7 minis and yes setting them up for the first time is a little clunky. I haven't had any issues though after that initial setup. I have unplugged them for a week and when plugged back in were right back on schedule. After the initial setup they are pretty easy to adjust, only annoying part is switching to the different wifi networks for each light.

There is a “manual” setting instead of “auto”. I would guess the manual setting would achieve what you want with the timer.

But, the auto works well. It just takes a little more setup, but maybe easier than using an external timer.
