1. Does the controller need to stay plugged in after programming is complete or can it be unplugged and stored away?

2. Would I be correct in thinking that pressing the K71 button sites between the manual and timed setups?

3. Do I need to press the "H" button to send the new programming to the light or does it happen on its own?

1 no but I left it plugged in next to my tank
2 no those k1 and such control different set of lights or pumps
3 once the lights are programmed any changes that you save will auto send them to the lights.

Makes sense except for question 2. I haven't had time to sit and play with it, when I press the K71 button it would switch between whatever colors I was setting up for programming and a brighter manual type state. I haven't tried to see if it still happens once it's programmed.

Just confirmed hitting the button in fact does switch between the last manual setup and the current light program. Seems very useful should you need to see/work in the tank during during low light or lights out.
