Been dosing NoPox for almost a year and really happy with the low nutrients but I’m having a issue with red cyano it’s not a huge issue, but I keep getting rid of it with Chemiclean and then a few months later it’s back. Just on a few rocks. It’s in absolutely blasting high flow areas and just annoying me why it keeps returning any ideas?
SG: 1.025
KH: 7.5
Calcium: 445
Magnesium: 1250
Nitrate: 0.2
Phosphate: undetectable
I run a calcium reactor that keeps everything rocksteady and I’m really happy with coral growth, I don’t think my no3 and po4 is as low as it’s reading as I have some macro algae thriving and probably sucking up some of the nutrients. But since dosing NoPox the cyano appeared and just keeps coming back so something is causing it, any ideas?
Photo below.
The rock on the tank floor right of the yellow Tang is the worst area. It’s in crazy high flow as well. Other dark red areas are just coralline algae which happens to be same colour....unfortunately.
Not a major issue...but is annoying my reef ocd, lol
