NOPOX EXPERIENCES?

Any bad NOPOX experiences out there? Losing fish? Losing Corals?
Not really. As long as you start slowly (half the recommended dosage) for the first week, turn off (or pull out) any GFO and ensure you have a skimmer - it works as advertised. It can take a week or so before you start to notice any significant changes, though.

Usually the horror stories of carbon dosing (nopox) are from when the skimmer isnn't working properly (or is absent), someone overdosed it, or someone let their nitrate bottom out

Previously I've used a DIY version for more than 5 years and the only problem I ever had was when I overdosed and had bacterial strings take over my tank and sump.

Simply stopping the dose for a week cleared it up.

Use caution if dosing bacterial additives as they may grow faster than expected.

These days, BTW, I simply use plain white venegar which works just as well for me.

I'm 1/2 a bottle down and to be honest I have no idea if it's had an affect at all.
My NO3 has been as high as 60ppm. Last Hanna check was 32. But I have a refugium going with Cheato and Culerpa and have added Mantis bio bricks and Polyp Labs Genesis bricks in the last few months.

Maybe 3ml is not enough

Thanks for all the advice! Gonna order some tonight. Hopefully my Skimmer is running correctly. Seems like I can’t get it to roll over the top into the cup.

I use the diy nopox much cheaper to buy a 1.75 of vodka a gallon of vinegar and rodi water. I do a mix of 500ml of each and dose 50mls a day. Cut my dose in half when nutrients get to where I want and raise it back up when they start to gain again. Only thing I’ve experienced is it takes a while for nutrients to start dropping and if you dose too much you get the bacteria strings as mentioned before
