NOPOX with Chaeto

I know this is going to sound like a dumb question but would it defeat the purpose to dose NoPox WITH having Chaeto in a fuge? Asking for a friend lol

Is your friend trying to bring down nitrates, phosphates or both? And what are your friend's nitrate and phosphate levels.

I was just kidding about my friend lol I was just thinking wouldn't that be defeating the purpose? Don't hobbyists usually just use one or the other? Im sure one who would have high phos and nitrates im sure would do a water change, just a general question.

Water changes will help a little; maintaining a good filtration setup (including a refugium) will do more in the long run. A good cleaning crew can also make a big difference.

You either deal with the nutrients in the tank, ways to export them or some combination thereof. Take my 200-gallon system.

* 4x 100-micron filter socks; changed every 2 days
* Protein skimmer; emptied every 3-4 days
* 2.0L Zeo reactor, 1.0L Carbon/GFO reactor, 57-watt UV sterilizer; 2.5ml of Zero daily
* 2x MarinePure 8x8x4" bio bricks, 2x boxes of 1.5" spheres
* 100+ member cleaning crew and a half dozen "helper" fish that perform specific duties

dang that's pretty impressive and yes that makes a lot of sense. Hardly anything comparable to my 32 gal DT and 25gal sump but I totally understand where you're coming from, but for example I have a cleaning crew and fishes with duties however I don't want to get anynmore and again due to the size od my tank, just wondering if NoPox would out compete my Chaeto OR just get a bigger chunk of Chaeto? My light is already on for 15 hours and 9 hours off for my DT lights.

NOPOX does work, but it can take a few weeks to ally see results. If you try it start with half the recommended dosage for at least the first week. I don't know what impact this will have on your refugium or how high your nitrate and phosphate levels are currently.
