So I've had problems with high nitrates for awhile now. I just started dosing with nopox. Those that have used this before, how long until i notice a drop in the nitrates? Will it effect the corals or fish and when i stop using it do i slowly reduce it? I'm dosing 2ml a day in my waterbox 20. i have several torches that just wont open, but my hammers are doing fine. Any thoughts??

Hi,

So when you say hi, how high. Are you in the 40’s or 10’s. What is your maintenance and feeding schedule like. You may want a look at the source of your issue along with the nopox. Also, where are your other numbers at, that will give us an idea of where the tank is at overall

phosphates are zero, calcium 400/420 dk 89.5 salinity 1.025/6 the nitrates were up as high as 40. I feed every two days with a weekly reef roids spot feed to corals. I think the eleavation came from pouring the water i used to defrost my frozen mysis rite into the tank.

what's your water change schedule? a series of water changes should knock the No3 down. a string on 3 or 4, 5-gallon changes. I've used Nopo4x in the past had good results. I never had good results with it and LPS. they don't seem to like the methanol.

Edit: in fact 1.5 years later, My torch is still stunted and hardly extends.

i do about a 5 gallon change once a week. about 1/3 of the water

I think nopox contributed to my current battle with dinos. My nutrients bottomed out before I realized. The numbers were right where I wanted them for months and then I did a couple large water changes and now I'm trying to bring my nutrients up. When I was dosing it I noticed it took some time to show results which is a good thing. Just be careful you don't bottom out.
