Nori sheets

How long can a sheet of nori sit in your tank. I see people do videos and they say leave it in there so fish can eat throughout the day. What’s the accuracy on this statement?

I know in my tank, the pieces left behind still in between the clip(that the fish can’t get to) will mold darn near overnight. It turns into a white milky nastiness that STINKS! Haha

I just put my sheet in and leave it. Not sure if this is right or wrong but I never had a problem. My fish and snails eat it and what ever is left over my filter sucks up.
