Normal behavior for Snails?

A lot of my snails are out if the water for my 2 water changes a week. They love the top of the tank for some reason or another. Maybe more algae for them to eat. Who knows. Wild little guys.
Nerites for example, carry a small pocket of water within their shells. They can survive quite awhile out of the tank.

I don't know why but many snails spend time out of water. Collecting snails this morning there were as always, many above the low tide water line and they would only be covered for a few hours each day. They are not chasing algae as the rocks they're on are bare.

My astrea and cerith snails hang out at the top for a few days at a time. They look like they are sleeping. Then they go back to the rocks and chow down on some algae. They may sleep in the algae for a few days too. Then back to the top of the tank.

At first I thought there was something wrong with my water or aeration. But I know I have good aeration now and they still do it. I have been meaning to get a pH logger to monitor pH and see if it correlates to their behavior.

Hi fellow reefers. Added my first CUC. Combination of different snails, crab, and conch.

Some of the snail are on the glass, all the way on top, with part of the shell not in the water. Is this normal behavior?
Yes, it is normal. I even had snails leave the tank, lay their eggs on the wallpaper and then die from lack of moisture (I think).
