Normal Color Orchid Dottyback?

Hi everyone!
I have noticed that my orchid dottyback doesn't have an even color, the head for example has a richer color that the body, and I was wondering if that is normal or if my fish is sick. I hope you can help me, thank you in advance!

Hmm. When I look at the plethora of pictures of the orchid dottyback online, I see lots teeny tiny variation in the coloring so this could be normal. How long have you had him? Has his coloring always been this way or did it change to this?

They vary at times, although I can't tell for sure but it looks like he may have beat up fins? Is that in my head?

My orchid is pretty uniform but a bit more dull toward the tail. Not to that degree

It's not in your head... at least not just yours. I see it too but wasn't sure I was seeing it right either.

Yup well if someone is roughing it up, the stress may lead to discoloration, and that's notwithstanding the body's attempt to heal affected areas. Infection might even be at play, but hard to tell

I only have a pair of juvenile clowns which never go to the rocks where the dotty knack hangs out, a small mandarin, and a yellow tang which I don't think is the cause of this since I introduce him a couple of days ago and the dottyback had those colors already

Sorry about the quality of the pictures, I think the parts that look like beat up fins aren just darker and you can't really see it in the picture. I will attempt to get some better pictures later
