Hey, my pearl bubble has grown down the "bone" and started to cover the live rock. I think its weird. Opinions? In the two pics you can see how it started. Shoved in a piece of lr with a hole in it. The vid shows now. The stem is gone!

My frogs, hammers, and torch all grow out. Ive never seen any grow back down the dead bone. They always make new bone. This is the first ive seen. Its amazing coral gets a hard care rap. Thet are so versital.
I always assumed this was normal, my frogspawn did the same thing.

My pearl would spread down the skeleton to the sand bed. Never had it on a rock. Corals usually expand onto neighbor rocks to secure themselves. If it is mounted onto live rock. It may not feel secure so just making it so.

I find pearls to be hardier than bubbles. Think since their pearl bubbles are smaller in respect to regular bubbles. Less chance of flesh tear due to current. flesh seems to be a bit thicker in pearls
