Normal or not?

So I purchased this trachy about two months ago back when I was using a fluval Marine light. Now I'm using a AI prime 16hd and have obviously noticed all my corals liking the new light. In regards to my trachy I noticed before the switch that it was having some small areas that looked white. So I moved it from the bottom of my tank to the middle. After a couple of days since moving it I've noticed that it has started to "puff up". Is this normal behavior for being in a better spot or something else..

Its expelling zooxanthellae. Assure its getting adequate light and water flow. May in your case be getting inadequate lighting.

So the picture of it with the black string was when I had it with the fluval light. The other picture is more recent

Fluval light I hate to say, not the greatest. Consider adding a light bar such as reefbright or Orphek OR3.

The OP has already switched to a AI prime 16hd. Did you actually read the post?

IMHO, the coral looks just fine, although I think they prefer being on the sand. Your new light should be able to keep it happy.

Yeah I was told that the sand bed might agitate it which could be the cause for the whiting . But ever since I placed it a little higher up on my love rock it's puffed up like it really seems happy lol.
