I recently purchased 2 Six Line Wrasses. They are both in QT, and have been hiding for awhile. Today, one of them came out of hiding, but has been laying on the bottom. He will move once in a while, but he's still laying on the bottom and his side. I just fed and dosed the QT with API General Cure so don't mind the slight particles floating around.

Did they take any food when you fed?

Im admittedly not a QT guru but its not uncommon for wrasses to play dead when stressed. Could be a reaction to their reflections from all angles as well as an actual competitor in smaller confines. Id kill the lights and try taping up some cardboard or dark paper to the sides of the glass to dampen reflections and see how they do.

He kind of took food. The other one remained hidden. All sides have black paper except one side. The lights are off for now..I don't think he's gonna make it, but his roommate is doing good. I found him hiding and kind of curious when he spotted me

This was my melanarus the day I brought him home. I thought he was dying. He was just faking it and is perfectly healthy months later.

That's interesting. Mine is doing it now, still breathing just fine. I didn't know Wrasses did this. It's great to know! Thank you!

Quick question... currently he is still laying in his side but he was breathing heavy and now it has slowed down. He hasn't moved all day, is this normal? Should I treat for something?..

Hard to tell without seeing, but breathing heavy isn’t a good sign. Have you done a freshwater dip?
