Let me start off by saying I started this whole fish tank thing in May 2021 and that I never had things under control in the first place.

I went out of town for 10 days gave a friend a key I don't know what they did probably over fed probably kept the lights on too long etc etc was the only person I trusted to stay at my house and well it is what it is.

So I just noticed tonight I thought it more black ( couldn't find anything searching Google ) but with my new camera is appears more blue in the picture. Anyone got a clue?

It's only on this top piece of rock and I don't see it anywhere else. It has been 12 days since a 15% water chance I plan on doing one tomorrow then back to once every 6-8 days depending on when I can.

Could be a sponge. Common hitchhikers if so. It's a neat color.
A sponge interesting I'll start looking into those thanks this whole 32 gal biocube was such an impulse purchase back in May. I got the tank the stand was free then at the local coral shop the owner gave me live rock from a bunch of different sumps so I started off with all types of hitchhikers and algae. 5 months later it's 1 step forward 2 steps back.

The grey black ones I’ve encountered don’t do well in lit areas. Normally they are found in crevices, under side of rock etc.

The live rock is also a good thing. You likely have a leg up in beneficial microfauna like pods.
