Not an emergency need advise

I ordered a cuc package for my sons biocube. I live in Illinois, it has been cold. It shipped on Monday and just arrived. It is super cold. The wet paper towel is not frozen but still very cold. I noticed a few of the hermits outside of shells dead. I am floating the bags but am nervous to put them in to the tank. I haven't seen any movement out of anything. I don't know how long crabs and snails can survive in the cold and hate to drop them in just to cause a huge spike with a bunch of dead bodies. Any thoughts? Thanks.

warm them to room temperature. You can place bag in luke-warm, not hot water and allow about 45 mins. DO take pictures of the contents and address losses with shipper. I am in WI and feel the weather. A good shipper will track temperatures and determine best time to ship. A Paper Towel for insulation??
Hmmmm..... maybe I will take the blankets back I ordered for the kids and get them a couple of rolls of paper towels instead for Xmas !!

They are shipped in just a little bit of water and a wet paper towel.

I'd put them in a container and float in the tank. Slowly add a little tank water like acclimation process. See what's alive and drop in the tank.

For crabs- Not abnormal..... its just the way they were shipped and the Cold water may have actually been a partiality to cause

The bag in the picture was mostly alive. All the hermits are dead and some of the bigger snails I am still watching because I haven't seen any movement. I probably picked a bad week to order them with all the cyber Monday shipments slowing transit up.

I received Two cyber shipments of coral - Both arriving Today and no issues but were packed with Newspaper and heat packs
