I think they are different but don't quote me. The assassin snails for Fw have the same shell, and look though.

@thatmanMIKEson Would you mind sharing where you bought your bumblebee snails? I need this same variety to eat vermatid snails in my tank, overflows and sump. I also need something to eat small yellow sponges on my rocks?

I've never used these or have much experience with either one.

I've never had any vermiteds, maybe because I've always had bumblebees. I got them to reduce the number of spirobid worms and they have done a great job.

I think they haven't messed with my Trochus snails now they know there's something else to eat, I pick up shells and have no rubble on my bottom, there has been no new dead snails, so I assume they prefer hydroids or vermited over the Trochus.

My tank was overrun with bristle and fire worms and nothing would eat them until I got these snails. I guess they are eating them because ever since I introduced them I don't see the worms come out when I feed the fish anymore. The arrow crab just ignored them.

Sounds like we're in the same boat.
I've bought Bumblebees in the past.
Still have them; for more than a year.
I have not seen them bother other snails, but...
As far as effectiveness against Vermetids: IME they do ZILCH

Thats to bad, I thought it was more than likely going to be a waste of time and a shot in the dark, but I've seen ones I know had worms in them with food webs, now vacant with coraline algae covering them and no webs. One in particular, in the first picture always had webs when I fed "reef roids " or heavy feeding. That one is on bare bottom with no other ones surrounding it, and easy to tell that it's no longer active. Some of the "younger" tubes are almost clear and I've seen the bumble insert its feeder into the tubes or on the tubes searching, what was it doing if not feeding, and they killed the snails with me watching. This is the only experience I have with both bumblebees and vermited snails. So I can only speak for this particular experience. Maybe some are different or maybe they had easier prey in your system than vermited tubes, i believe they are carnivores so they don't eat algae.

I guess it's hit or miss.
All I know is, I've had bumblebees in my tank on several occasions.
Didn't do squat.
Then there could be other factors, such as the number of Vermetids vs Bumblebees.
I have a lot of Vermetids.
Maybe my Bumblebees kill off one or two, but that simply won't do.
Is it possible that there are different species of Bumblebees? Some that eat Vermetids and some that won't touch em'?

I wonder this as well. I'm glad to hear the OP got his from liveaquariua, because I just received 25 today for my 360g. Hope it's enough lol. I didn't go too crazy to start because I'm worried about them eating other things that I like.
