I'm realizing this isn't a frogspawn like I originally thought when purchasing. What is it then? I've looked online and I just can't figure it out. Behind it is a hammer coral; I actually added that one semi-recently. Unrelated question think hammer coral is too close to the not frogspawn coral ? I believe is non issue, so far so good, but I'm not so certain. Thank you all : - ]

Definitely some type of euphyllia. Torch maybe. Generally euphyllia can touch other euphyllia. Just nothing else

In my mind I've always pictured torch corals being longer. Mine is so short, but that does make sense; it must be a torch : /
Frogspawn and hammer are fine together. Torch and hammer are not fine. If my understanding is correct. I guess I'm going to have to move one of them eventually.

When they’re not happy or on their way out, they will close up like this.

Hmm it looked like this when I bought it March 2020. Actually it hasn't really grown much, unrelated likely I was doing ULNS poorly. I've raised my nitrate and po4, for this coming year.

I feel it is healthy; I could be wrong : /

Euphyllia cristata look like stubby torches and don’t extend much. But yours doesn’t look like a cristata

I have quite a few of this. Its Euphyllia divisa, commonly known as frogspawn coral

I have 2 torches that looked like that when I bought them. The first week they were sad looking so I moved them to higher flow and they are thriving now and 3 times the size they were

Frogspawn have multiple tips. The pic is obviously a torch.
Euphyllia divisa is largely derived from having tentacles that are “divided” at the end; hence the common name Frogspawn Coral or Octopus Coral. Tentacles can be tan to brown or green to yellow, and the contrasting tips can be pink, lavender, white or cream

I think it is a euphyllia crystata. Also called grape coral.

Seems that others are divided on what this is, but it does resemble a torch to me. Anyhow, give it good flow, you want to see its tentacles wavy or bounce, just not too much till its flesh is tearing against its skeleton. And just to be cautious, incase this is a torch, move it away or add some rocks to divide it from the hammer. Torches don’t generally do well together with frogspawn and hammer. I have never personally seen this in my tanks (i don’t intend on finding out) but based on most people’s account (forums, websites, youtubers) they don’t mix well.
