So I downloaded the app. Problem is when I activate the app it seems to not allow anything internet wise to work on my phone other than controlling the light. I have to turn off the wifi on my phone and then hook back up to it. Also, shouldn't I be able to control the lights from anywhere? Once I'm not on the home wifi my phone won't connect to them. I tried to create an auto setting and it won't work. I have to only use it on manual which does not make things convenient. I have a Galaxy S7 which is the biggest piece of junk on the planet and I'm not sure if that is part of the problem.

When you did the original setup, did you select to connect to your router or to the lights directly?

I believe the router since I remember having to type the routers password in. I know I should know this, but I have had these lights for some time now and had them setup months ago and just got around to using them.

To connect to your lights when off your wifi you have to create a hole in home wifi. Or port forwarding. They create a web server copy of your light but if you change these settings they will not effect the lights till on your home wifi.

At least has always been my understanding. Have to be honest, ive never had a need to control my lights when not in front of my tank.

If you create an auto setting from your phone it's obviously going to be off the wifi once you walk out the door. Unless the lights keep a memory. I don't know.

Steps i took to get mine setup.

I have 3 lights total each are controlled independently. I didnt setup as parent and child. Was incase i wanted zones.

Did you ever get the light to work properly?

When you open the 'MyAI' app under the name you assign to the light does it say local or cloud? If it's just 'local' then you probably haven't set up an AI cloud account. Here is the site to do it if not...

Once set up, didn’t need to connect directly to the light. Only did that to get it on the WiFi.
