I am looking to get into the hobby and trying to learn as much as possible and make decisions (or the best I can) the first time around. I am looking at various AIOs around the 30 size. The JBJ 30 RL (rimless version) and IM 30 are currently my top contendors. I like the aesthetics of them. I am curious why you see very few of the JBJ 30 RLs compared to say the Red Sea, Biocube and even the IM. (You do see a good number of the IM 16 and 38s though)

I am I missing something on the JBJ 30 RL? Is it just money....if so, it seems like you still see more IMs which are more than the JBJs I think.

Thanks,
Brian

My 2 cent is IM is really aggressive on marketing so people are going for it rather than JBJ who's been here a while and people are not that excited about it any more. Have you had any hand on experience with them ? JBJ to me felt little better of two. Red sea has incredible amount of after market parts available to it making it very easy to upgrade down the line

I have seen the IM 30 in person and it was nice. I like the dimensions of the JBJ a bit better though. It is wider.

Basically, I just want to make sure that there isn't something about the JBJs that I am missing. The only thing I have read while searching is that some think the glass has a slight color cast to it when it is empty. I am not sure how much I would notice that or not.

I have the jbj 30 gallon rimless and love it. The dimensions are cool and the return pumps are strong and quiet. I have had it for 8 months and have no complaints! In my opinion it is the best aio especially for the price!

Jbj has good products but pray you don't need to contact them. I found customer service horrible personally. Don't know about others.

I have a JBJ 12g nano and I love it. Super quiet, no maintenance problems at all (3+ years). The rimless ones are beautiful but I don't know anything about their performance.

What customer service? (Please leave a message and we will contact you....) still waiting. But I have 28g cube and love it. Had to upgrade my lights cause the ballast died on the MH but I like the LEDs more.

Timmy fan in L.A.?

Thanks for your thoughts and glad to hear about the pumps. I am definitely leaning this direction.

Interesting. One of the small LFSs near me was telling me how good their service has been he has called (talked to owner). But you aren't the first I have heard this from. I wonder if depends on if it is a shop owner calling on behalf you of rather than you calling yourself.

I have two of the JBJ rimless 30's and I have 0 complaints about them. I have spoken to their customer care once and can only say excellent things about how I was treated.

Thanks for the input. My LFS actually has them now and it looks like a really nice tank....nicer than I pictured it being.

The stand is not bad either I built my first one and my second one came with one and its actually pretty nice for a factory stand.
