Hello all, my name is Ben I have been out of the aquarium hobby since high school, (over 10 years), I unfortunately had to sell my saltwater 90 gallon mostly soft coral tank, and my 110 planted when I went to college. I never really understood the deeper chemical balancing component to the reef hobby, only the basics and was never able to keep SPS, tried 6-10 frags of hardier SPS with a little success. My planted was established for about 4 years, and my salt was a little over 2 years. I am very interested in starting back up with adult money, and some free time but I plan on taking it very very slow. When my Leemar 90 was doing well it was very inspiring to me as a teenager so very excited to be back and to do things slower, while learning much more about the hobby.

With the exception of age (I'm a Boomer), you and I have had similar paths. I had a 90G when I was about 43 that lasted about 5 years. Softies and LPS. It was a successful tank. Until it wasn't. It crashed harder and faster than I could believe. So, 12 years later, I'm also planning a new tank. I'll be moving slow as well.

Sorry, long post! So Greetings and Welcome to our collective obsession!

Hello Ben and Welcome to R2R! I too had taken 10 years off and came back to the hobby. I make the RODI water in my garage. I have two 40 gallon containers. One is the RODI and the other is the salt mix. This makes it so much easier than the way I use to do it years ago. Knowledge is valuable in this hobby. Good luck in however you decide to move forward.
