I just noticed that I have an acro that was losing tissue and noticed some dark brown looking bugs at the base. they moved like flatworms and came off easily in a Revive dip. But looking at it up close, I'm not sure if they're AEFW since they're dark. Can anyone help identify with these microscope pics?

What magnification is this?

Not AEFW. They look like this and are around 3/8" or smaller.

I found a few on an acro frag way back in June last year. I will never forget how nasty looking these guys are. These guys made it past dipping and I only noticed their presence one month in. Had to do two rounds of FW dip for them to be eradicated completely. Thankfully this frag wasn’t in my main DT.

Search around here for "black bugs". They are slug like, smaller, darker, and move a little quicker. You may need Interceptor to kill them which can be hard to source. Or Dr G's dip.

Hopefully, just a short dip in potassium chloride will do. Cheap and easy to find.

Oh that’s a good video. Yes looks like that

Hopefully you have a friend that is a veterinarian or you will need to be making a new veterinarian friend.

If these are encrusted colonies in your display system, you will need to dose Interceptor which is available only by prescription. I went through 10 vets before finding one that would write the scrip.

Here is a link to resolving these bugs:

It looks like that to your naked eye ? What strength revive and duration knocking them off ?
it looked very close. from my naked eye, they were more oval and didn't have ridges, just smooth curve but they moved similarly.

i used 1 capful of revive in 4 cups of water
