Ok, I need some advice please! Long story short, I had about 15 assorted fish in my RefSea Reefer 650 Peninsula, then I added (at the same time) a yellow tang, purple tang and goldflake angel. There was already a sailfin tang present in the tank. Things were good for about 2-3 weeks, then I started noticing small spots on the purple tang. I took out my corals (only had a few) and started hyposalinity treatment in DT (I know, big mistake...im still fighting nitrates from die offf). Then several of the fish had nips taken out of their fins (tangs, angel, trigger and even clown fish. Then I noticed more and more nips taken out of the purple fangs fins and one clown (female frozen frostbite), while the others were healing. I never saw any aggression by any of the fish. After about a week, the purple wasn't in his normal hiding spot, and was looking horrible, as was the clown. I took both out and put into frag tank with 1.025 salinity (after acclimating). The purple tang is doing much better, eating and repairing fins, but the clown is very skinny, almost skeletal, and won't eat pellets soaked in garlic, live brine or flake food. There are some white bumps on its nose, but other than that (and the skinniness) I don't see anything wrong with it. Here is where I need some help...what can I do to try to save this fish? Totally different tank with copper? Some sort of stress coat or something I can easily pick up at Petco or Petsmart ( I live in Hawaii, so there are very few LFS, as strange as that sounds)?

If you could post pictures of the fish to help determine what you are dealing with, that would be a good start. Copper may be your best route.

The link above does work, you can watch the whole thing, but notice how skinny the fish is, and near the end (last few seconds), you can get a good look at the spots on the clownfish' nose.

I watched the video, I can see how thin he is, and the rapid respirations. I couldn't see the spots.

How much time has passed since your original outbreak, and when you started hypo?

You said "tiny white spots", could it have been velvet opposed to ich? Do you have any or can you get pics of the fish that are showing spots?

Any swimming in to powerheads? Hiding from light? Scratching, flashing?

Damaged fins is often due to flukes.

White spots on the clownfish make me wonder about Brooklynella, as well.

(Video didn't work for me, BTW...)

Yes I agree, hypo didn't work, so ich is out, that's why I was asking lenth of time. To me velvet, Brook are left, if weeks have passed. Then velvet is most likely out.

You potentially have some disease going on there...and we have three excellent "sick-fish" folks already here. As far as aggression, I'm a little concerned having three different Zebrasomas in 140 gallons. I'd definitely consider rehoming the sailfin, they get real big.

I didn't watch the video, but someone mentioned "thin"....make sure you're feeding nori every day.

Not sure if this worked, but I couldn't upload a video
My suggestion would be to upload the video to youtube and the paste the link. The file shows but I have to download it to my system which I do not do:)

I would suggest follow a regiment and feed like this LINK use vitamin C or a multivitamin. I would also add to the mix some metroplex and focus to bind the med to the food. The way I am reading this is your system is pretty stressed and the fish immune systems are weakened and this may be causing a mild outbreak of ich. This will nip it in the bud.

^^ Agree with above; I think it is likely you are dealing with velvet and/or brook here. Hypo will oftentimes suppress symptoms of those parasites, but they manifest again once removed from hypo conditions.

As for the skinny clownfish, have you seen any white stringy poop come out of her?

Unfortunately I think I asked for help too late, she died overnight. I hate losing fish. :(

Sorry for the loss :(

Remaining fish in the tank still require treatment so we can turn this track off of “repeat”

The other fish in hypo are doing great, as is the purple tang in frag tank. He will be observed for ich and moved to a separate tank if necessary.

Bummer, sorry for your loss...
Thanks, not only was it a beautiful dish, it wasn't cheap.
RIP "Mrs".

Oh I get it, my only clown looks identical to yours, all white, orange face. Only difference is mine has all black fins opposed to orange and black.
