So I'm wondering if anyone has done a notched external overflow on a 120 rimless I've been thinking about upgrading my tank an really don't like overflows inside the tank I just think it looks horrible an also don't like how it takes up space inside where beautiful corals can be but what worries me is notching a rimless will it weaken structure cause there is no center brace I really wouldn't like to have a blow out especially on a 120

I take it the tank is acrylic? What is the thickness?
Notching down an inch should be fine. Remember your going to Weldon the overflow box (assuming it will be no more than 12" deep) to the back of the tank. Which would make up for what is routed out.
