Notching acrylic baffle in the sump

Here is my sump, water flows from right to left:








It has been working great for the past 10 months. The only issue is the water flowing from the bubble trap into the filter socks is a little noisy. That small, 1" drop is causing a lot of noise. I'd like to cut out a section of it or put notches so the water doesn't need to fall to get to the filter socks. The only thing I can think of is to use a dremel to cut out a small section. Does anyone have any other ideas on a good way to cut it out? Which dremel attachment would be good to cut the baffle without melting the acrylic?

You could take an angle grinder and attach a small fine tooth trim blade and cut to the desired depths. You'd have to take it really slow but it would definitely do the job. Another option would be to take a router and set your depth to desired, and route the notches out at your desired spacing.
