What are you guys doing? I was thinking of a float switch and a red light bulb or something. Just curious what others had set up

got the liquid level sensor few weeks ago, I love it. attached it to a solenoid and then tubing that's attached to my RODI 50 feet away, complete customization of RODI and top off.

This sounds perfect.

Any more details or things you would do differently? My RO unit is only about ten feet from my tank, but on the other side of the wall. Automating filling of the reservoir once a week or something would be ideal.

Float valve hooked up to a BOB on an apex. Shuts off my tunze pump, and sends me an alert. Been using the same float for ooh 10 years or so.

Why do people have to over complicate things?

Break out box.

Break out box.

Thank you, really appreciate the link.

Are you using it to control any other switches? The BOB and the float valve are slightly more expensive then the Apex liquid level sensor, but if there is additional uses for the BOB it might be something worth looking into for me.

I use my bob for my skimmer float switch, It turns my skimmer off when the overflow collection gets full, and sends me an alert. My cabinet lights turn on when I open my cabinet doors, and off when I close them.

If either one of my supplements run low, it shuts the doser off, and sends me alert.

You can do a bevy of things with a BOB and all sorts of switches.

I put an LED in line with a horizontal float switch in the reservoir container. When the water level is low, the little light comes on. I talk about it HERE. Originally a little green light (that I burnt out), but now the red light between the two controllers:

This sounds awesome.

Can you share a link to the type of float switches you do this with. I would love to set this up.

This is what I got. It comes with everything you need. The light flashes green if something is on it or the top off water is too low.

So originally I had it going directly from my rodi without a sensor, all ir would do was top off. Reason I didn't like this was 1) it would put strain on the RODI because it was constantly turning on/off and 2) since water was coming through in little spurts it would be high tds, since the rodi takes a litle bit to pump out water at low tds. Small squirts of high tds water was causing my corals to not be happy. I added a reservoir under my tank with the LLS. Using this and a solenoid means reservoir would fill up in one go. It's what you see in the pic attached, it goes down slowly and fills up at once.

I considered using my breakout box and a high/low port but I liked the added comfort of seeing the graph when I open apex. While you could do a high/low sensor, and just have it open when it toggles the low sensor and close when the high sensor is triggered. I also use the lls to send an alarm if it's too low, telling me something is wrong with the RODI system. It can also alert me if it's too high, in the event that the solenoid and the float sensor both fail. This and the ffm sound alarm go in well together. i also added an LLS to my saltwater mixing station after seeing how it worked in the main tank reservoir.

The breakout box does have many uses though. Personally I'm only using it for my skimmate locker and the lights under my stand (magnetic sensors that trigger when any doors open)

I just look at it when I walk by lol.
Must be nice.

Not everyone has that same lifestyle. If I were going to fill it enough so I could just look when I walked by I would need at least a 100g reservoir tank and I am not comfortable with having a pump in a hundred gallon tank that might get stuck on.
