So my Mayan sun favia that lost its green due to high tank placement decided to grow what looked like a balloon , then turned into what my wife called the ball sack lol, now it’s looking more like a giant tear drop. I was going to snip it but it looks like it’s trying to naturally separate. Is this typical for Favia or due to high PAR? 64FDF519-D8D5-4F76-9A9F-8E25E3AF8964.jpeg F612E246-6ED3-4E0E-8E5D-3302568D28C2.jpeg

Would it be safe to glue this piece to some rock after separation? Down low this time

It will connect on its own. Very cool! One of my Ricordia recently did this although not due to PAR

Definitely in agreement of what your wife said. Is there a skeleton to the teardrop portion of the favia?

Yes and Its possible i broke some of it. It felt like a little Rick but clearly very brittle skeletal inside. I pulled on it slightly and it broke free. I banded it to a drag disk in hopes to save it. E1A4DAC7-6464-4A3B-B538-9772CFEAC540.jpeg
