Now what do I do?

My Valentini puffer succumbed to its injuries which were inflicted on him by a pair of Ocellaris clown fish.

While I don't believe this is a true emergency, I've posted here as I believe it is where the problem will get the most attention. My apologies in advance for the long post, but I want to be as thorough as possible in providing information. The tank in question is a 33 long with dual overflows...

If what has been speculated is true, they were close to spawning and eliminated what they saw as a threat to their eggs.

This is upsetting because there was a peaceful coexistence between them for over a year. But now I am concerned about adding ANYTHING to the tank with this new behavior.

I've already had to isolate a pair of Tomato clowns in their own tank because they killed everything I put into the tank with this. Now it seems like these guys are doing the same thing.

I'm thinking about putting them all into the same tank and letting them fight it out and never owing a clown fish, but that is an emotional solution and not much of a solution at all.

So what should my strategy be moving forward?

The presence of carnivores freak other fish out. I think you may have better luck with a fish that does not look like it is going to eat their eggs.
