What about nutrient levels? Pro Bio S is a bacterial mix which generally converts the NO3 and PO4 into skimmable materials. The NP Pro as far my knowledge goes is a carbon source for bacteria. So logically they should not affect your cyano outbreak. Generally as far my idea about cyano outbreak is an imbalance in nutrient ratio or amount of PO4 vs. No3. Did you tried feeding less? How long you are struggling with this and which salt you use? I can see you use quite aggressive nutrient control techniques so I am wondering about your feeding schedule and nutrient level?Hello,
I am using zeolite and Biofil in my sump with Phosphate remover and activated carbon. I have a very light bio load as of now. I am not dosing anything else. The tank has been up for a year now and is a 47 gallon cube.
Which salt you use? Also if you have cyano stop using amino acid as you are supplying a rich source of nutrient. What filtration do you use for nutrient control?Following as am too getting a cyano outbreak with Np Pro and Pro Bio S with ABEV .
Think its got to do with nitrates being 0 while the phosphates are not due to feeding from my end ..

I was guessing this...so stop amino and also possibly need to change the salt to reef salt until you shift the balance towards more NO3 and less PO4 as the salt also contain amino...by the way whats your PO4 level?I have siporax and matrix through reactor , marinepure block , aquaforest carbon and gfo in reactor .
Salt used is prodibiotic Reef salt and it's only sps .
I hardly register nitrates and am sure it's the imbalance of nitrates to phosphates .Might resort to nitrate dosing as it has worked in the past .
Will stop amino and see if it works ..

.. who knows !!!! I tried every test kit in Red Sea ,salifert and Hanna and it all registers 0 .As per your test the nitrate is not that high. I generally suggest people not to use the probiotic salt if you dont run ULNS as it also contain some amino. If your bioload is not much and you dont do a full ULNS SPS tank you can just use reef salt.I ran out of Aquaforest pro biotic reef salt so I am using HW reef and adding bio s to that till I get my Aquaforest order. Like I said my bio load is small 3 small corals and 3 small fish. Tank is a year old and is slowly seasoning, I think because I used dead rock and is not really doing great.
