Hi all, new here, so i guess i should introduce myself first.
My Name is Cooper and I have been in this hobby for the last 10 or so years.
I started this hobby at young age when my father built his first reef tank.
Ever since i had been hooked!
I have decided to change to this forum after having problems on another (No Need to be Named) i had been using for 8 years.

Enough said, back to the question...
I have just recieved my bonus (yay!!!) And decided to use part of the money on a new setup.
My problem is, i don't know what to do.
Should i Build a NPS cool water Reef with Deepwater Anthias or should i do a full blown SPS reef?
I will be shutting down my mixed reef to make room, so making this decision is though!

Note:
I have had experience with both types of corals for multiple years.
The NPS reef will be more challenging, but it may be well worth it.
The tank will be around 60-100 gallons (I'm not a fan of real large reefs in homes).
Either way i go, the system will need to be some what automated. This means auto fridge feeder, dosing/autowater change setups.

Welcome to R2R Cooper! I voted NPS. It seems everyone is doing a full blown sps reef nowadays and something different would be quite refreshing!

Welcome. I've also played with both setups so I would say go for the one that keeps you motivated the most. After a couple of years I found the high maintenance nps becoming more of a chore, so kept a few bits and moved the rest on. With my sps I can leave it well alone for a month or more so it works better. Sps has also worked out cheaper and I get the chance to grow things out much quicker.
Motivation from me comes from learning about a new aspect of the hobby or trying something new so think about what might keep your interest longer.

As an aquarist that specializes in selective filter feeding invertebrates, I vote non photosynthetic of course (; But on the assumption that you will be doing exactly what you need to keep whatever species you choose. I'm here for any help you need or any questions you have.

Welcome, took me 10-11 months to finally get my nps tank where it's operating efficiently . I run a chiller to keep 77 degrees constant. Check my thread, I won't say more. Welcome again

Nps would be nice to see

NPS are by far some of the most challenging corals to keep, but also the most rewarding, colorful and wildly structured animals in the world.
The NPS tank gets my vote!
